SOCIAL MINISTRIES

The Social Ministry Committee, as per the bylaws of our constitution, “shall oversee the congregation’s ministry of service to all persons of all ages who are victims of illness, injustice, poverty, or any form of suffering in body, mind and/or spirit.”

St. Paul’s has a wide variety of services they provide to the community and to the world to teach the World that God is Love.

We have members involved with the Food Pantry, Bridge of Hope, St. Paul’s Preschool, Prayer Shawls and Tutoring.  We also support the Lutheran World Relief organization.  Our Social Ministry Committee is working with Jackson Elementary School and their needs.

  •  Jackson Elementary School received uniforms, socks, tights, and shoe laces from our church. In addition, we provided 18 book bags to supplement the school’s stock. Ms. Nelson, the school’s social worker, is deeply grateful to St. Paul’s.
  • Welcome back, God’s Global Barnyard! After an intermission of over two years, our 3rd- 6th grade Sunday school class, led by Scott Herdson, Dan Garber, and Sheridan Palmer, is launching this mission project. This is an opportunity for our entire church family to contribute to the purchase of animals for farmers worldwide. Members of the class gave a temple talk and kicked off the project in November….complete with the comeback of the quarter tube and pig banks.  Our Advent donations will be used to support God’s Global Barnyard!  Save your quarters!.

  • On November 13th & 14th,  St. Paul’s congregation had the opportunity to purchase globally handmade home, kitchen and entertainment items. By shopping with SERRV, an independent fair-trade and non-profit organization founded in 1949 to fight global poverty, you will be supporting more than 8,000 low-income artisans and farmers from developing nations – plus their families and communities, enabling the artisans to become self sufficient. SERRV employs artisans who utilize traditional crafting methods, patterns and materials to create their handicrafts. All proceeds made by St. Paul’s from this sale will be donated to Lutheran World Relief.
