Chancel Choir

The Chancel Choir Rehearsals are @ 7:30 p.m. in the Music Room.  We have a few new singers and many returning singers but are still in need of female singers!    Won’t you consider singing with us!

Chancel Choir is under the direction of:  Victor Fields, Dean, York Chapter, American Guild of Organist …See Biography.   Victor is looking forward to working to continue the outstanding music ministry at St. Paul’s and with the many talented people who help to keep music alive.

The Chancel choir  is comprised of members of the congregation.  Anyone is invited to sing in the choir.  Most of the choir members do read music but that is not mandatory.  A love of singing and making music for the Lord is the heart and soul of the choir.  The Choir also helps with chanting and singing Psalms as well as providing leadership for singing the liturgical music settings sung throughout the service.  Members of the choir also are called to sing solos and duets, etc. in worship and offer their talents by playing instrumental solos and sometimes provide instrumental support for worship.

“Joy, sorrow, tears, lamentation, laughter—to all these music gives voice, but in such a way that we are transported from the world of unrest to a world of peace, and see reality in a new way, as if we were sitting by a mountain lake and contemplating hills and woods and clouds in the tranquil and fathomless water.”

—Albert Schweitzer (1875-1965)

It is hard to believe that the lazy days of summer are ending. I am excited to begin my tenth year at St. Paul’s, and I look forward to another year of collaboration with the choir, staff, and congregation of this thriving community. We have had a rich summer of music at the church, and I want to thank all the guest organists and musicians who shared their time and talents.
