St. Paul’s Men

St. Paul’s Men’s group meets the 2nd Saturday of each month for a cooked breakfast made by the men in the church parlor kitchen.  There is always lively discussion; sometimes planned and sometimes not!

The men plan a spring clean-up project and hold book discussions.  This spring text will be distributed and discussion set for one of the fall meetings of a book entitled “The Grunt Padre” about a priest (Father Vincent Capodanno) who gave his all for our country as a chaplain.  Guest speakers and topics for future meetings will be posted.

These able men assist with projects around the church, such as property clean-up days when the Property Committee schedules them.  Often the men are called upon to complete a task such as renovating two downstairs rooms for the preschool.  Each year they cook the breakfast for the children’s annual Christmas performance (a favorite of our women!) and they sponsor theological education and general educational seminars for the congregation and the community on a variety of topics.  In addition, St. Paul’s Men support the work of the Lutheran World Relief mission and Lutheran missionaries.

Our May 2014 meeting was held outdoors.  We met at Brillhart Station (along the bike and walking Trail) for breakfast and a walk along the trail.

On December 1, 2014 at 7:00, we joined the Women of St. Paul’s to learn from Sonia Pitzi, Region Coordinator, about the LIU Education for Children and Youth Experiencing Homelessness (ECYEH) program and will perhaps embark on a joint service project.  All women and men were invited to attend.

The Men’s Group did a great job with the Christmas Breakfast held after the Children’s Program on December 21, 2014.  Thanks to those who helped by bringing breakfast casseroles and helped in other food preparation, serving, and clean up.  Enjoyed by all in attendance!
