Seminary Internship Program

What started as a Educational Service to Gettysburg  Seminary students has proven to be a major Blessing to St. Paul’s Church.

The congregation participated for six years (2008-2014) in an internship program through the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Gettysburg,,.  Traditionally a student must have completed two years of academic work prior to the internship year. The intern, commonly referred to as Vicar, participates in the full life of the congregation as he or she prepares for ordained ministry in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.

Our first Vicar was Andrew Bell, 2008-2009. Next came Kari Plymette, 2009-2010, then David Bowman, 2010-2011, Alex Martini, 2011-2012,  Laura Haupt, 2012-2013, ordained June 6, 2014.  What an amazing addition to the worship life of our church each one made. With different personalities, styles, and talents, they brought fresh ideas to the congregation and we had the pleasure of watching them mature in their service to Christ and the Lutheran Church and to see each of them become an ordained minister.

In 2013 – 2014, our Vicar was Jerry Tancredi, a second career student.  It was great working with him and benefiting from his perspective as an older Seminarian.  He left us on June 29, 2014.  Farewell and Godspeed Vicar Tancredi!
